Explanation
To classify IT assets and configuration items (CIs), administrators define a top-level class in the Organizations application. The top-level class is the top class in the classification hierarchy. For example, you can specify a top-level IT asset class for all IT assets and create child classifications for computer equipment and software. Classification hierarchies for IT assets and CIs are needed for many functions. For example, classifications are required if you want to reconcile authorized IT assets with deployed assets or authorized CIs with actual CIs.
