This guided activity assists you in configuring the Web server plug-in to route requests for dynamic content, such as servlets, to an application server.
It is assumed that the Web server is "remote" from the application server in that the Web server and the application server are on different machines. It is also assumed that the Web server software is installed.

Install the binary plug-in module using the Plug-ins installation wizard.
The Plug-ins installation wizard installs the plug-in module and configures the Web server
to communicate with the application server. Complete the following steps:

Stop the Web server while you are configuring the plug-in to work with it.

On the machine where the Web server is installed, select the Plug-ins installation wizard from the launchpad or change directories to the plugin directory on the product disc. You can also issue the install command using the downloaded installation image.

Follow the instructions on the Plug-ins installation wizard and select the Web server machine (remote) option.

Install the Web Server Plugins feature. The WebSphere Application Server V6.1 for i5/OS installation CD allows you to install just the Web Server Plugins. Follow the steps below to install only the Web Server Plugins feature:

Remote install from Windows workstation

Ensure that the host servers are started on your i5 server:
STRHOSTSVR *ALL

Stop the Web server or Domino server while you are configuring the plug-in to work with it.
For IHS Web servers use: ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(Web_server_name).
For DOMINO servers use: ENDDOMSVR SERVER(Domino_server_name).
The user may use the i5 WebAdmin GUI to accomplish the above.

Insert the install CD into the CD-ROM drive of the Windows workstation.
Note: If autorun is not enabled, change directory to cd_drive:\plugin and execute install.exe.

The login screen is displayed. Enter a valid userid and password for the i5 server where you want to install. The userid must have *ALLOBJ and *SECADM special authorities

Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

Local install from Qshell

Ensure that the host servers are started on your i5 server:
STRHOSTSVR *ALL

Stop the Web server or Domino server while you are configuring the plug-in to work with it.
For IHS Web servers use: ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(Web_server_name).
For DOMINO servers use: ENDDOMSVR SERVER(Domino_server_name).
The user may use the i5 WebAdmin GUI to accomplish the above.

Insert the Plug-ins install CD into the CD-ROM drive of your i5 server.

Copy the RESPONSEFILE located under the /QOPT/WEBSPHERE/PLUGIN directory to an IFS directory. For example,
CPY OBJ('/QOPT/WEBSPHERE/PLUGIN/RESPONSEFILE.TXT') TODIR('/tmp')

Edit the copy of the RESPONSEFILE.TXT (for example, using the EDTF command) and make the following changes:

Change the value of the -OPT silentInstallLicenseAcceptance.value property to true.

Change other optional parameters as appropriate.

Start a Qshell session:
STRQSH

Change directory to /QOPT/WEBSPHERE/PLUGIN
cd /QOPT/WEBSPHERE/PLUGIN

Invoke the "install" command as follows:
INSTALL -options path/RESPONSEFILE.TXT
For example,
INSTALL -options /tmp/RESPONSEFILE.TXT

The Plug-ins installation wizard creates a script file with a name of configureWeb_server_{web server name} (batch or shell depending upon operating system of the machine) in the plug-ins_installation_root/bin/ directory on the machine where the plug-in is installed.

Copy the configure{web server name} batch or shell script from the machine with the Web server to the was_install_root/bin directory on the machine with the application server.

Start the application server.

On the machine with the application server, run the batch or shell script to create the Web server definition in the configuration for the application server.

On the machine with the Web server, start the Web server service by following the instructions that came with your Web server installation.

In the information below, the following terms are used:
plugins_install_root: This refers to the IFS directory in which the Web Server Plugins were installed. By default, this is /QIBM/ProdData/WebSphere/Plugins/V61/webserver.
appserver_profile_root: This refers to the location of your WebSphere Application Server profile. For the default WebSphere Application Server install, the profile root of the profile myProfile is /QIBM/UserData/WebSphere/AppServer/V61/edition/profiles/myProfile where edition is Express,
Base or ND.
http_profile_root: This refers to the location of your http profile. For the default Web Server Plugins install, the default http_profile_root is /QIBM/UserData/WebSphere/Plugins/V61/webserver/profiles/http.
product_lib: This refers to the product library which contains the service program objects for the web server plugins. For the default Web Server Plugins install, this is QWAS61A. If you install the Web Server Plugins, multiple times, the product_lib is QWAS61c where c is B, C, D, .... The plugins_install_root/properties/product.properties contains the value for the product library.

Create an HTTP profile on i5/OS:
Please note, when the Web Server plugins feature is installed on i5/OS, a default http profile named http is created. If you choose to use the default http profile, proceed to step 2 now.

Run the manageprofiles Qshell command to create an http profile. (Note: http profiles are the 6.1 equivalent of 5.0/5.1 remote instances.) For example, run this command from Qshell:
plugins_install_root/bin/manageprofiles -create -profileName myHttpProfile -templatePath http
where myHttpProfile is the name of the HTTP profile.

Create a web server instance. Please refer to your web server's documentation or the WebSphere Application Server documentation for details.

(IHS)

Point your browser to "http://hostName:2001" where hostName is the Web server machine, and click the "IBM Web Administration for iSeries link".

Click the HTTP Servers tab, and in the dropdown box labelled "Server" select the web server instance from step 2.

Click the "WebSphere Application Server" link in the left sidebar, then select the "WebSphere Application Server, V6.1" radio button.

In the pulldown menu select the HTTP profile from step 1 and click OK.

(DOMINO)

Run the configureOs400WebServerDefinition script on the http profile from step 1, for example:
configureOs400WebServerDefinition -profileName myHttpProfile -webserver.name DOMSRV01
  -webserver.type DOMINO -webserver.port 80

Using the WRKDOMSVR command to update the notes.ini file of your Domino server, insert the following directive:
WebSphereInit=http_profile_root/config/webServerName/plugin-cfg.xml

From the Lotus Notes client connected to the Domino server, click the internet protocols
tab and then click the HTTP tab. Under DSAPI filter names add the following:
/QSYS.LIB/product_lib/LIBDOMINO.SRVPGM

Save your changes and restart the Domino server.

Copy the script named http_profile_root/config/webServerName/configurewebServerName to the appserver_profile_root/bin directory on your application server machine using your favorite method, such as FTP or mapped drives.

Start the application server and run the script you copied in the previous step. For example, run the following commands from Qshell:

appserver_profile_root/bin/startServer

cd appserver_profile_root/bin

./configurewebServerName

(IHS) To enable automatic propagation of the plugin-cfg.xml file as well as other features, update the IHS Remote Administration Server's user ID and password in the Web server configuration:

Open the administrative console to your was profile on the application server machine.

Expand Servers --> Web servers.

Click on the Web server definition to view the details screen.

Click the "Remote web server management" link.

Enter the user ID and password to authenticate to the Web server machine. The authorities required by this profile are the same as that required to access the i5 WebAdmin GUI.

(DOMINO) Copy the plugin-cfg.xml from the application server machine to the http_profile_root/config/webServerName directory on the web server machine. The plugin-cfg.xml file is generated in the directory named appserver_profile_root/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/servers/webServerName on the application server machine.

       <action
       class="navigatorCmd.do?forwardName=WebServer.content.main"/>

The plug-in configuration file (
plugin-cfg.xml
) can be automatically propagated to the Web server
when the Web server plug-in configuration service is enabled and if one of the following conditions is true:

You are using a local Web server, that is, there is an Application Server on the same computer as the Web server.

You are using a remote IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Version 6 or higher, with a running IHS administrative server.

In this guided activity, the assumption is that the Web server is remote. Therefore, if the Web server is not an IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Version 6 or higher, you must manually copy the
plugin-cfg.xml
file to the install location for the remote Web server.

To propagate the plug-in file

Create a user ID and password for IHS Admin Server. This user ID and password is used by Websphere Application Server to remotely administer the Web server. To create a user ID and password in the
IHS_HOME\conf\admin.passwd
file, run the following command:
IHS_HOME\bin\htpasswd -cb IHS_HOME\conf\admin.passwd adminUser adminPassword
, where adminUser is a system user ID and adminPassword is the adminUser password.

Start the IHS Admin Server. On Windows start the 'IBM HTTP Administration 6.1' service on the IHS machine. On Linux or UNIX, run the following command:
IHS_HOME/bin/adminctl start
.

Click Click to perform to load the Web servers collection panel.
